How the has been Biome affected
The biome of Lake Chad has been affected by a great deal. The biome used to be a wetland with grasslands surrounding it, but now it's a desert. The biome was affected so much until the point of changing. The droughts that have been occurring have reduced ground water severely. When there was a lot of water in Lake Chad the soil around it was softer and more fertile, yet now it's all dry and crusty. The changes in Lake Chad have been contributing to local lack of water, crop failures, livestock deaths, collapsed fisheries, the soil sanity and the increasing poverty in the region.
Due to the climate changes in Lake Chad and high demands for agricultural water Lake Chad has shrunk to almost twentieth of its original size. These are the main contribution to Lake Chad shrinking, yet there are also other things. Major overgrazing has caused the loss of vegetation and serious deforestation. These are contributing to a drier climate.
The animals that live around Lake Chad once relied on the grassland and wetland but are now dying due to them losing the biome. The Lions and leopards have been removed from the livestock area, rhino's and hippos have been decreased to almost nothing.
